Blog Fern Creek Pet Resort
Most people only wish to wake up and look forward to coming to work. I am one of the lucky few who can say that I do. I can say this because I work at the Kentucky Humane Society’s Fern Creek Pet Resort. Where else can I come to work and be greeted by fuzzy faces that are happy to see me?
Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of dirty work to be done when it comes to animals. Anyone who has owned or cared for a pet knows this all too well but, they also know it is the most rewarding labor you can do. However, even with all of the dirty work to be done there are plenty of fun times to be had. It’s because of the exciting times that outweigh the stressful, that I can say this place is not only a great place to work but a wonderful place to bring your pets.
We offer many services and there is something for everyone. The traveling pet owner can take advantage of our competitive boarding rates and the activities that we offer during their pet’s stay. The working, on-the-go pet owner can bring their dog for some running and playing for a few hours at our Doggie Daycare while they are at work, running errands or just to give their best friend time to play with their four-legged friends. We also offer grooming services for people who like to keep their pets smelling their best.
The services aren’t what I really want to talk about. I would like to give a more personal insight to what we do here daily. As an employee, I can honestly say that we treat every cat and dog that walks (or runs!) through our door as if they were our own pets. We are as crazy about the pets here as our own. We’ve really gotten to know quite a lot of them. And even if we don’t know them very well they still get the attention the others get. Besides, how else are we supposed to get to know them, without giving them a scratch behind the ear here and there?
There are plenty of reasons why I love my job. Number one is the animals and the joy they bring to me. I look forward to the future and all of the new friends that I will make. I hope to see you and/ or your four-legged friend soon!
